Whole Foods, Detroit.
2:06 PM
Monday, David and I went to check out Whole Foods Market in Midtown, Detroit! We had a fun time exploring inside and seeing what they had to offer. There are so many things inside that I have never even heard of!
I love the artwork you see when you enter. Whole Foods even added a touch of Detroit. Actually, the entire store has Detroit pride!
Mmmmmm. Fresh veggies!
They even sell aloe vera leaves! I've never seen them sold like that before.
The prices are more than reasonable for the fresh produce.
Since I'm part monkey (I can make sounds that sound EXACTLY like a monkey) I was going bonkers over all these bananas!
Looking at all the fish made David and I hungry. They smelled so fresh, it was like they were just caught.
Cheese is one of my favorite foods. They have cheeses with goat milk, sheep milk and cow milk. I've never had any cheese made from sheep milk! I must go back and get some to try!
I'm not even a fan of olives, but the look and smell of them was heavenly.
Free sample?! Sure! It was probably some of the best guacamole I've had in a long time! Aside from my Grandma's that is...
Whole Foods sells a variety of drinks, such as Italian Soda! There used to be a coffee shop near my house that sold Italian soda. They ended up selling their business to the person next door who ran a restaurant...he got rid of the coffee shop to expand his restaurant. Since then, I've been sad that I couldn't get anymore Italian soda...now I can!
The bakery another favorite part of mine. I have a bit of a sweet tooth and I love fresh bread. The aroma was wonderful.
Whole Foods had macaroons! I've ALWAYS wanted to try macaroons! I bought chocolate, raspberry and vanilla. Between the three, raspberry was my favorite. Yet, all were so tasty... It took me by surprise how delicate they were! Next time I want to try their hazelnut and pistachio.
Want to drink Naked? You can get all their flavors here. I love drinking Naked. (Pun intended) Green Machine is my favorite so far. Of course they have many different brands of juices too.
Whole Foods even sells Michigan beers! David was pretty happy about this discovery!
Whole Foods even has an aisle dedicated to make-up and body products! I'm all about organic products! It's so much better for your skin.
Whole Foods even gives back to Detroit.
Smoothie bar? Yes please! Didn't get any this time, but will the next time!
My school even made a welcome banner for Whole Foods. Go Wayne State!
View from the top of the parking structure! If there aren't anymore available parking spots in front of the store you can always park inside!
So my experience? If you couldn't tell was, it was great! I do plan on going back! BUT because Whole Foods is a chained store, I won't be shopping there as much as I would at local shops such as: Ye Old Butcher Shoppe (which is down the street) and Eastern Market. Buying local is really important! Yet, it won't stop me from returning to Whole Foods! It's still a great store. The employee's are SUPER friendly too. Many of them noticed I was taking photos and would either step out of my view, ask if they could move something out of the way or politely wait for me to finish. David asked a worker if he needed help because it looked like he was struggling (David is definitely a keeper). The employee replied no, but offered to cut anything if we wanted to try it (since David offered help when he didn't have to) Don't you love nice people? I do. Anyway, if you haven't been to Whole Foods yet check it out! You don't have to buy anything, it's fun just going inside and exploring!
